The thought process which first took me to the search within and the journey from the external fabric of the body eventually led me to the various moods and expressions of a woman in love (avastha).
In the ´Natyashastra´ Bharatmuni describes eight kind of nayikas (ashtanayika) for example, the ´Vasakasajja´ is the woman who awaits her lover in full regalia. The ´Virahotkanthita´ whose lover does not turn up when promised, and makes her sad. The ´Khandita´, a dejected or enraged woman whose lover has spent the night with another woman.
Poetry has always come to me through music. Listening to Shri. Satyasheel Deshpande´s ´Kehen´... through the beautifully rendered bandishs, I could see not just one but almost all the eight nayikas.
